Monday, April 19th 2010 ~  Boston’s 114th Marathon

The world’s oldest and most prestigious annual marathon and part of the World Marathon Majors. A maximum field size of 25,000 participants begin in the rural town of Hopkinton and run the legendary course through eight cities and towns before finishing in Boston’s Back Bay.

I am not in Boston to run the marathon, ha ha, that will never happen!

But, I am here to rub some tense leg muscles… And, as I was lying in bed last night, this ad came on TV about some new running shoes that are supposed to help tighten the ass. I googled it this morning and come up with mostly rebuff. Then I came across something very interesting on Wired.com, according to a report by Harvard biologist Daniel Lieberman ~

Running barefoot is actually the best thing for your feet and knees, and wearing conventional running shoes is bad.

People who grew up running barefoot — such as boys in Kenya’s Rift Valley province, which is known for endurance running champs — tend to land mostly on the front or middle of the foot when they touch ground. And when these runners do use shoes, they continue to run in that way.

The least you can do, is stop wearing shoes indoors. It’s not specifically related, but another recent study showed that wearing shoes indoors brings pesticides and other toxins into the home. One report I’d read said that removing your shoes at the door had a greater impact on the levels of pesticides in kids’ bloodstreams than giving them organic fruit. Hmmmmm, I thought, as I was reading through these articles, maybe the fact that I grew up barefooted in Montana every summer and still go barefoot whenever possible has led me to have pretty decent legs and strong, agile feet even though I really don’t work out! That, and the fact that I tense my leg muscles when I’m building an orgasm… I always have and I actually have a hard (impossible) time coming if my legs are not stretched out reeeeeeaaaally tight.

Anyway ~ Its always fun to learn new things and I think I’m getting some of those strange looking Vibram FiveFingers because I do need to start running more and getting my heart rate up for longer than an orgasm lasts!

Sitting in my car last night, parked next to the Hilton at I35 and 7th after sending the sweetest man from Amarillo off into deep slumber, a giant flock of migrating birds swooped in and settled along the freeway embankment reminding me that I am too about to take flight…

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback on my new blog:) I know I’m getting a bit of a slow start but its January and I always feel like hibernating in the dead of winter. Also, I’m putting my stuff into storage in Austin and moving out at the end of this month to embark on a year-long ROAD TRIP! Yayyyyyyyy!

I’ll be flying in and out of NYC every month (So check my Itinerary for my travel schedule) and picking up my car in various places around the country. Roughly, I plan to spend Feb & March in Florida, drive up the east coast in April, head across through Chicago & Minneapolis in May ~ June, spend July in Montana, August in Seattle (throw a killer 41st birthday bash) drive down the west coast September ~ October (visit Abby in San Francisco;) through the desert in the Fall (Can you believe I’ve never seen the Grand Canyon!) and meander back through the beautiful South over the winter. I’ve never been to Memphis or Nashville or New Orleans…

Please invite me to your city but be prepared to buy me the best steak in town;) Oh, and please feel free to make special requests for photos and videos!
